Coating Operator

We’re recruiting for a Coating Machine Operator to join our Operations team and play a key role in keeping our coating line running safely and efficiently.

The role

• Operate across all workstations on the Coater 1 coating line, including the face unwind, liner unwind, silicone and adhesive coating heads, and quality laboratory.
• Develop proficiency across multiple coating assets and workstations, supporting a flexible and multi-skilled operation.
• Carry out a range of activities and duties according to operational requirements, with responsibilities adapting to the specific needs of the business.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Operate, set up, adjust and carry out changeovers on machinery safely and efficiently, following relevant procedures and specifications.
• Monitor machine performance, gauges and process controls, making adjustments where required to maintain production and process standards.
• Carry out routine quality checks and tests, accurately recording results and identifying and addressing quality issues.
• Complete daily machinery, workplace and housekeeping checks, reporting faults, abnormalities and safety concerns promptly.
• Carry out basic fault-finding and machinery care to maximise reliability and throughput while minimising waste and downtime.
• Follow production schedules and communicate any risks or issues that could affect on-time delivery.
• Maintain accurate production, quality and equipment records, including effective shift handovers.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S, ensuring the machine and work area are clean, organised and safe.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, engineering and other teams, supporting asset care, reliability improvements and continuous improvement activities.
• Share knowledge and support the training and development of colleagues and assistant operators, contributing to a flexible and multi-skilled team.

The Candidate

• Good understanding of all relevant health and safety requirements and is willing to action them when necessary
• Basic computer/ IT skills that can be applied to business management and communication systems
• Ability to utilise hand tools and operate a range of machinery
• Ability to operate a range of lift trucks and overhead cranes if required. (Internal training will be provided)
• Manual Handling proficiency
• Ability to work flexibly within 24/7 manufacturing environment operating a range of different shift patterns which may include nightshifts and working weekends.

Desirables

• Experienced in fast paced manufacturing environment
• Basic knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as workplace organisations, waste reduction and problem solving
• GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths
