Tullis Russell Completes Tree Planting Initiative

14th April 2025 by Sophie Regan

As part of our ongoing commitment to building a more sustainable future, Tullis Russell is proud to announce that we have fulfilled our pledge to plant 900 trees in partnership with the Woodland Trust.

Carried out by the staff and volunteers of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust, the trees, which include oak, birch, hazel, blackthorn, rowan, and willow, have been planted across 8 acres of Tullis Russell-owned land. This project will create approximately 3.35 ha of new woodland with the following aims:

  • To create a resilient mixed woodland with species adapted for projected climate change, as well as potential pests and diseases
  • Woodland design to incorporate managed open ground to benefit biodiversity
  • To act as a carbon sink
  • Establishment of a gross woodland, retaining some open space
  • Establish the trees over a period of 15 years by performing regular maintenance such as weeding and replacement of plant losses

Part of a bigger picture

The tree planting initiative is just one part of our wider strategy to integrate sustainability into all aspects of our operations. In 2022, Tullis Russell set about connecting our sustainability vision with our everyday actions. with the ultimate goal of reducing our carbon footprint by 50% by 2027. At a high level, our objectives focus on three core pillars.

  • Reducing our environmental footprint
  • Promoting social responsibility, and
  • Fostering innovation for a greener economy.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on this momentum with further initiatives that bring us closer to our ambition of becoming the world’s leading creative and environmentally responsible coating company. With innovation and sustainability at our core, we’re committed to shaping a brighter, more responsible future for our industry and local community.
