Finance Director

The successful candidate will be based at the company’s Bollington site and will be the Finance Director for the Security and Speciality Coatings business and the Group Financial Controller. The role will report directly to the Group Finance Director, based in Scotland but will also have an operational reporting line into the S&SC Managing Director.

Key Result Areas/Principal Accountabilities

Deliver an efficient and effective financial service to the S&SC business driving best practice to underpin the delivery of operational and commercial excellence within every aspect of the Finance function.

Ensure that group financial requirements are met in supporting the Group Finance Director.

  • Strategic and Operational Support
  • Support S&SC Managing Director in strategic development and execution
  • Support board, where required, in the investigation of acquisition opportunities
  • Support board to undertake ad hoc strategic reviews
  • Provide commercial support as agreed with the S&SC MD
  • Support the business in maintaining strong relationships with existing customers and building relationships with new customers.
  • Facilitate 3rd part legal support to the organisation
  • S&SC Financial Reporting and Control
  • Responsibility for timeous production of accurate monthly management accounts
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly performance summary
  • Responsibility for timeous production of annual statutory accounts
  • Responsibility for the production of rolling three monthly and full year profit and cash forecasts
  • Group Financial Reporting
  • Responsibility for timeous production of accurate monthly group consolidated management accounts
  • Responsibility for timeous production of group statutory accounts
  • Responsibility for timeous consolidation and presentation of group budget
  • Responsibility for the production of rolling three monthly and full year group profit and cash forecasts
  • Responsibility for ensuring Tullis Russell Coated Papers Ltd is effectively controlled and transactions are recorded and reported correctly.
  • Treasury Management
  • Day-to-day management of bank facilities
  • Overseeing day-to-day treasury requirements
  • Monitor and report adherence to bank covenants
  • Compliance and Control
  • Management of Group credit insurance arrangements
  • Responsibility for the effective operation of internal financial controls
  • Responsibility for compliance with group accounting procedures
  • Responsibility for compliance with appropriate financial reporting standards
  • Responsibility for the planning and preparation of annual budget
  • Responsibility for direct and indirect taxes
  • Responsibility for compliance with external reporting requirements

Key Requirements for the Role

Education and Experience

Professional Accountancy Qualification – CA preferred

Experience operating as a finance director, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Experience to entail the following:

  • Proven track record of financial systems development
  • ERP system implementation and good IT awareness
  • Proven track record of delivering results within a demanding financial reporting framework
  • Proven ability in effectively aligning business objectives and information provision
  • Proven record of effective risk management
  • Proven ability of delivering results through people and teams
  • Experience operating in a senior financial position within a growing business with international operations
