Helping local schools with Eco projects

20 Oct 2011

As a company, Tullis Russell Coaters is immensely proud to be one of Bollington's oldest residents. Back in April 2009, Tullis Russell celebrated it's 200 year anniversary and made donations to various local, neighbour companies with the view to help with environmental projects.

Of course, while we love Bollington, we also like to think about the environment as a whole. We take our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) very seriously and our CSR programme involves a significant commitment to waste reduction and recycling; We are also at the forefront of providing eco-friendly products for our customers across the globe.

Many of the donations went to local Primary Schools to help them with a variety of eco projects, from gardening tasks to installing solar panels etc. This was designed to promote a happy, healthy lifestyle for the town's young people, which in turn should enhance the lives of all local residents.

Dean Valley Community Primary School have informed us that they used the funds to build 2 raised beds in the school grounds, a path up to the new garden area, to purchase a shed, compost bins and a selection of tools to use in the new garden and a variety of bulbs, plants and seeds to plant around the school grounds (All shown in the images above). They have also been running an after school gardening club in the summer term and some year groups have also used the garden and the tools to support their science work.
